FOOTSIES WITH THE ANDES

Taking advantage of the Plurinational State Foundation holiday, celebrating the adoption of the new constitution and the change in the name of the country since 2009, we cycled to and from Samaipata for the weekend. Samaipata is aproximately 120 kilometers Southwest of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and rests at the foot of the Andes, sitting at aprox 1700 meters above sea level.

Samaipata has more things to do than time to do them; we had to choose between several waterfalls, vineyards, white water rapids, the archeological site El Fuerte de Samaipata, the Amboro National Park, The Elbow of the Andes, and well-preserved colonial towns such as Vallegrande, where Che Guevara was assassinated by the U.S. trained and sponsored Bolivian army.
